Lost & found

Sweet and cute Ellie.

Sweet and cute Ellie.

Hey everybody I'm sorry I haven't done many blogs lately. I just haven't really had anything major going on worth creating one for. Then the adventures of Ellie happened. One of my clients was just about to go on a trip. This happend at the exact same time that her mother was going to move in for a bit. She has two dogs that she was bringing with her. They already have three dogs in the house. Ellie likes and enjoys the three dogs. I felt with adding the two extra dogs and the client being away.  I knew this was a super super bad idea. I mentioned little tips to help. Things I mentioned to help with this particular situatuon wherent done😑.  I came in on Friday of last week. I saw no sign of her anywhere.  I was immediately concerned and worried. I asked many times if they knew if things were going well at the house. I didn't get any answers that told me otherwise. Then Monday I get told that she hasn't been seen since Thursday night. The client was gone and I was concerned that the proper things that needed to be done immediately we're not going to be done. I took it upon myself to put her up on Facebook rescue. Then put a post on craigslist under lost and found. I also spent two hours after work on Monday walking around the neighborhood talking to people giving them my phone number in case she turned up. Now that night I get a text telling me one of the neighbors saw her. I was so excited!! because it meant she was still around. I went back to do a walk the following Tuesday. On my way back I see a cat in the bushes in the shade and I immediately see Her face.   I am over-the-top excited!!  I walk up to her… It's not her😩it's a cat that looks exactly like her from afar.  Maybe I so badly wanted to see her that I read into the situation a little bit. It was hands-down one of the toughest moments for me. So again at this point no sign of her. One major thing that I am hesitant to bring up. I spoke to a woman on the day I walked and talked to the neighbors.  She gave off some majore suspicion.  I asked her if she had the cat. I shouldn't have but at this point I was a bit desperate.  I want to see Ellie's  face again. I would never have accused or asked anyone if they took her.   But!! she was saying some super crazy and strange things.   I had to ask. The words maybe she would be better off with another home came out of her mouth.  As far as this person knew this was my cat. Why would you say that to the owner. So I asked the question that some say I shouldn't have asked.   She took offense as anyone probably would have. Now at this point many days has gone by and I was losing all hope. The client got home and took over looking for her. Tonight on their way out the door they see Ellie sitting on the porch ready to come in. They texted me and I immediately went over. They didn't seem too happy with me coming over at that moment. I didn't care I want to see Her and I did. In my mind I wanted her to leap in my arms when I walked in the room. It didn't play out as I wanted it to.  She was scared growling and hissing. She was clearly not in a good place. The client was just about to walk out for the prior engagement. The mother was keeping the dogs attention in the other room. I spent a good hour with her trying to calm her down. I also gave her a little bed area that she was very happy with. I sat for a while and watched her fall asleep in front of me. No more growling no more fear. She was ready to sleep off the crazy adventure she just had. OK now here's where things get a little bizarre. I come home and make dinner. I get a phone call from a number that has no caller ID. A very young voice says he saw her running out of a house. Here's the crazy thing he says he was on a Street that is nowhere near where Ellie lives. He also sounded very scared. He said some other things that made absolutely no sense. He said nobody was staying at the house where she came out of. He said that right after he said he saw the person open the front door and she ran out. Again all of this taking place at a house miles and miles... and miles away. None of it made sense!!  I knew something was clearly not right with the phone call. Honestly I didn't care she was home and safe. It was a bizarre ending to the story though.  Bottom line is she is she was definitely taken. Who took her who knows who cares. She's home.

oh and I wanted to have a final update on the Bassett I helped rescue. She is happy and healthy and has found a new home. Thanks to the great people at Arf.
